No more waiting

For more than three months, the thought of this day has been ripening at the back of my mind; rattling around with distant promise and waiting to mature.
Today my (immediate) future roommates and I were offered tenancy at the house of our choice. There will be four of us, Chad, Harris, Tim and I, sharing this highly charismatic and charming home. Pictured left is the sky-lit second floor loft which looks down to a vault ceiling living room. The fully-applianced kitchen separated only by an eat-in breakfast bar and is garnished with recessed lighting.
I look forward to spending a significant amount of time in my new kitchen. I hope to cultivate it as a community area- a warm source of comfort, laughter and community. I want for it to not just be an area of food preparation and serving, but a common space for frequent use that goes above and beyond culinary purposes. I have a lot to learn about kitchens.
The next several weeks (which will soon melt into the next several months) promise to bring many challenges, tests of patience, opportunities to adapt, joy in which to relish, excitement to share, comfort to enjoy, gratification to earn, and lessons to learn. I am going to make an effort of keeping their record here, so that the exploration of this fig from my tree can be looked back upon- long after my body absorbs its nutrients.
